My Roadmap

⫷ My Roadmap ⫸

Aurora Marketing

Founder, Since September 2020

During my time at Revive Services, I gained a lot of experience running digital advertising campaigns, specifically on Google and Facebook.

That is why I decided (and motivated by Revive Services’s founder) to start up my own advertising agency to help other home service businesses.

Through my experience at Revive Services, I understand the difficulties that other small businesses go through when trying to navigate in a digital world, while running their business, which often times means they are still “working on the truck.”

I knew I could help them.

By offering my services as a “Fractional Marketing Officer,” I would be able to help scale these business while running the business’ marketing campaigns.

To date, I have worked with businesses across the United States and Canada. I consider this a side hustle and still work full-time at Revive Services.

Key Takeaways
  • My entreprenurial spirit has helped motivate me start a company from the bottom up. It started with developing rapport with many business owners, building a mailing list, and even building my own website: www.auroramarketingco.ca
  • Successfully developed paid advertising campaigns on Facebook and Google for lead generation for home service businesses.

Revive Services

Marketing & Communications Coordinator, Since April 2019

While I was in my final year at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, I started working part-time as a cleaning technician for Revive Services Ltd (at that time, Revive Washing).

Shortly upon graduating, I started working as a Marketing & Communications Coordinator.

I consider it a privilege to work for this company, where I was able to hone in on my marketing skills and learn a lot of new things.

For many in the home service industry and beyond, the COVID pandemic caused turmoil and confusion. But for myself and Revive, we were not only able to stay afloat, but even managed to increase our yearly revenue in 2020.

Not surprisingly, 2020 was the year I began running paid social campaigns and from a Facebook lead, Revive Services received its largest job in its history.

It was also through Revive Services I started my passion for all things IT. Whether it was by setting up our IVR phone system, looking through our website hosting Cpanel, or setting up a new printer, the technology aspect of my position always interested me.

Key Takeaways
  • Opportunity to learn many new skills, not only related to marketing specifically, but communications/IT-related, as well.
  • As part of a solo marketing team at Revive, I have developed the ability to multitask well.

Sepro Mineral Systems

Marketing Assistant, From March 2017 - September 2018

My first “professional” job since starting my business journey at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

This company was awesome!

One of my favourite things was to go down to the production shop and take photos and videos of the massive new mining equipment in production. During my time at Sepro, I had the privilege of learning Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, which are two programs, in my opinion, that should be of crucial significance for all marketers, but sadly isn’t.

A group of us attended Tough Mudder Seattle in 2017 and it was a fantastic team building exercise.

Key Takeaways
  • Knowing and being skilled in design gives you a huge advatage in marketing. I am grateful to have learned Adobe Suite and video processing programs such as Final Cut Pro and Sony Vegas.
  • B2B marketing is much different than B2C, and most post-secondary courses are tailored to B2C marketing.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Bachelors in Business Administration, Marketing Management, Graduated April 2020

My post-secondary undergraduate experience lasted six years as I was trying to navigate working at the same time. Those six years might have flown by but during my time at KPU, through the guidance of many helpful instructors, I matured and grew into the professional I am today.

In Year Two, I received an award for Highest GPA in the BBA Program – Year Two Award and I even attended a delicious dinner at a casino in Richmond. To be frank, I have no clue how I was picked for that award – it must have been a clerical error…

Key Takeaways
  • My writing drastically improved during the years at KPU.
  • Year 3 was by far the toughest, but with difficulties come rewards. Work hard to play hard.

Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft

Exchange, International Business, From October 2016 - February 2017

One of the most rewarding experiences during my post-secondary career was my exchange semester to Berlin, Germany.

Undoubtedly, it was hard to leave my family and relationships at home, but the sacrifice is fruitful and I recommend everybody to go given the opportunity to go on an exchange. Not only does one experience an entirely different culture, food, and language, it opens up international doors that would never exist otherwise.

Key Takeaways
  • Plunging yourself into the abyss of unknown is scary – but worth it.
  • German is funny sounding language.

Neat Side Projects ⫸

I designed and managed the website for Aurora Marketing as well as this website. In both instances, I became familiarized with web hosting, WordPress as a CMS, and Elementor for front-end design.  These have taught me the basics of HTML and CSS markup language as well as the basics of PHP. Setting up web hosting has taught me the basics of IP addressing, DNS servers, SSH access, and SSL certifcates.

Tired of Google tracking you? Me too.

That’s why I ditched Google and made my own search engine. Kind of. I took advantage of the open-source meta search engine called SearXNG. This required me to create a node (really simple with Linode) and installed the search engine using Docker. I then forwared the node to my domain, specifically at search.davidchudzinski.ca

I’d like to take more credit for this than possible, but it was really simple to do following this tutorial.
